How does paper recycling help our eco-system?

Paper Recycling is the best way to reduce the waste system and protect the environment on the other side. This process helps to recover a lot of fiber from paper, which can be reused and transformed into cardboard, and various paper items. Recycling of paper is also cost-effective and is not as effective as metal or glass recycling. It is a great way to defend the environment and conserve the resources.

Paper recycling

Recycling of paper includes taking waste paper and remaking it into new products. On the other hand, paper that can be used to make recycled paper is broken down into three categories such as mill broke, pre-consumer waste, and post-consumer waste.

Mill broke: In this process, paper becomes scrap during its manufacturing process. It is then recycled in the paper mill.

Pre-consumer waste: It involves papers that are unused before consumer use.

Post-consumer waste: papers that are discarded by the consumer after used will be consumed in this process.

So, what is the recycling process?

Paper Recycling includes 8 steps. Let us have a spotlight on these processes:

1) Pulping: This process includes adding water to the paper and using machines to separate the fibres.

2) Screening: Screens are used to eliminate contaminants that are larger than the fibres.

3) Centrifugal Cleaning: During this process, the materials that are denser than fibre are released.

4) Deinking: Also called as Flotation, ink can be collected on the surface of the paper in this process.

5) Dispersion: This process is also called as kneading. Remaining contaminant particles will be removed using machines.

6) Nest Washing: This process helps to remove any small particles by passing water through the fibres.

7) Bleaching: Bleaching helps to make the paper white.

8) Cleaning: Finally, the recycled paper is cleaned and is now made into a new paper product.

What types of paper can be recycled?

Different types of paper can be recycled. Some types of papers forms that are commonly used for paper recycling are:

 White and colored paper
 Soft covered books
 Booklets or manuals
 Greeting cards
 While and colored envelopes
 Post-it notes
 Magazines
 Collapsed cardboard boxes
 Newspapers
 Fax or copy paper
 Manila folders

Why recycle is necessary?

Nearly, 90% of paper can be made using wood as its production uses about 43% of harvested wood. On the other hand, recycling newspaper saves about 1 ton of wood and recycling print or copy paper saves about 2 tons of wood.

Paper recycling reduces energy consumption. The Energy Information Administration states that there will be 40% reduction in energy uses when paper is made with recycled paper. But the Bureau of International recycling claims that there is a 64% reduction. Both numbers can represent a considerable energy savings regardless of estimation.

So, it is necessary to recycle paper to protect eco-system!
